Fall 2026 Vancouver Cansing Registration is Open

Registration is now open for the Vancouver Cansing Choir’s fall session, SONGS OF LIGHT, beginning Tuesday, September 22nd. Join us for a season of inspiring choral music celebrating winter, light, peace, and community. Whether you are a returning member or joining us for the first time, we look forward to welcoming you!

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 8:00–9:15 pm at Cityview Baptist Church. The fall session begins on Tuesday, September 22nd and continues through our annual Vancouver Food Bank Benefit Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 1st at 7:00 pm. Artistic director is Gerda Blok-Wilson and collaborative pianist is Sasha Luchkov.

Please note that rehearsals and the concert are held at different locations: Rehearsals: Cityview Baptist Church – 4370 Sophia St, and Winter Concert: City Baptist Church – 109 E 40th Ave.

Registration Fee: $185 per term (music included)

The registration deadline is Friday, September 18th. Your registration is complete once payment has been submitted, unless you have contacted me directly. Returning members who prefer to pay by cheque at the first rehearsal are welcome to do so—please email me in advance. Bursaries are available for singers experiencing financial challenges. Please reach out by email if you would like more information.

Who Can Join? The Vancouver Cansing Choir is a non-auditioned, welcoming community choir open to singers of all levels. The only requirement is that you can sing a melody in tune. If you are unsure, please contact the conductor and a short interview will be arranged.

No previous choral experience is required—just a love of singing, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be part of a musical community. Whether you are looking for connection, music-making, or simply the joy of singing together, you will find a place here.

Children in Grade 5 and up are welcome to join when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children may not participate on their own.

We have a limit of 65 singers due to the number of music copies ordered, so early registration is encouraged. Please feel free to share this information with family and friends!

The Sept 2026 season’s repertoire celebrates the themes of winter, light, peace, and community, including works by composers and arrangers such as Antonio Vivaldi, Leonard Cohen, Enya, Elaine Hagenberg, Marie-Claire Saindon, Cristi Miller, Larry Nickel, and Canadian composers.
