I CATCH MY BREATH AND SING

On Tuesday, May 2nd at 7pm, the Vancouver Cansing Community Choir, Artistic Director Gerda Blok-Wilson and Assistant Conductor/Pianist Kevin Eng, will present a choral concert featuring a unique set of songs with the message of renewal, hope, and new beginnings. Admission to the concert is by donation to the Canadian Red Cross Ukraine Relief, an initiative aimed at providing relief and assistance to those affected by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

The highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of “I Catch My Breath and Sing,” a beautiful piece by Lavinia Kell Parker that captures the essence of spring. VCCC commissioned Lavinia to write this specifically for our group.

The choir will also perform other songs by renowned Canadian composers Marie Claire-Saindon, Sarah Quartel, Laura Hawley, and Stephen Smith that celebrate the season.

Alex Vollant, the choir’s bursary soloist for 2023, will join the group to perform three beautiful solo pieces for bass voice, and as well, he’ll join the group on two of their pieces.

The program will also feature selections by the Cansing Instrumental Trio, Claire Lloyd (clarinet), Guy Rockwell (guitar) and Kevin Eng (piano).

We hope you can join us for some wonderful musical selections while supporting a great cause.
