On Tuesday, May 6th, at 7:00 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church, the Vancouver Cansing Community Choir presents Echoes of the Future, an evening of music centered on songs on the theme of tomorrow, hope, and peace.
Admission is by donation to Mission Possible (mission-possible.ca), an organization that empowers individuals facing homelessness, poverty, and barriers to employment by providing pathways to sustainable jobs and lasting change.
A highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of Long Range Forecast, a compelling choral work by Edmonton composer Stuart Beatch, commissioned by Vancouver Cansing. This powerful new piece reflects on the pressing challenges of climate change and our shared responsibility for the future.
The program will also feature Canadian composer, Allister MacGillivray (arr. Stuart Calvert), along with music by Wei Cui, Stephen Schwartz, Jeanine Tesori, Ola Gjeilo, Chris Artley, Bob Dylan and more.
Joining the choir is Denise Chung (undergrad music student, UBC), VCCC’s 2025 Bursary Soloist, who will perform three solo pieces for soprano and also sing with the choir. The evening will further be enriched by performances from the Cansing Instrumental Trio, featuring Claire Lloyd (clarinet), Guy Rockwell (guitar), and Kevin Eng (piano).
We invite you to experience an evening of inspiring choral music while supporting a meaningful cause. For more information, visit www.cansing.ca.
