“If you can talk, you can sing”

Fantastic Concert

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Thank you for the wonderful 2010 –  11 choir sessions!  The new Vancouver CanSing programs have grown since last fall especially with the adult group.

From the toe-stompin’ “Cripple Creek” to the beautiful harmonies of “By the Waters of Babylon” and mass Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”, the choirs really pulled out all the stops March 12th – great teamwork!  The audience was so impressed.

I’m working to have the fall session organized in a few weeks.  I’ll send a notice ASAP and I hope to see you all back for another amazing choral journey, Tuesdays.  .

Once again, great singing!

Everything’s Coming up Roses

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The CanSing Primary, Intermediate singers and Adult Choir are excited about “singing into spring” with a short performance, EVERYTHING’S COMING UP ROSES, Saturday, March 12, 2:30pm at Cityview Baptist Church (Riley Park neighbourhood).

The singers will weave a little seasonal magic with everything from “Ice Cream” (Anne of Green Gables), “The Spider and the Fly”, “Sing, Sing, Sing”, “Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning” to a mass choir performance of “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen” (Roger Emerson version).  There’s even some talk amongst the Primary choristers that the group will pull out a rendition of the Canadian folksong, “The Little Skunk”!

Plans are in progress for the Primary and Intermediate singers to record the mini-musicals: “The Jolly Crawly Bugs” and “Winter Solstice News” following their spring choir session.

CanSing Choristers: CONGRATULATIONS!

Sunday, November 28th, 2010

Wow, the audience had so many compliments for the performers & it was great to see a full house!

I was proud to be able to lead the first CanSing show in our own neighbourhood and I think that I can speak for Gemma, too! Overall, I felt everyone’s performance was clean and very exciting and it was evident that each chorister was enjoying what they were doing.

I know that you’ll want to take the opportunity to register right away for the next 8 week session, begins Jan 18, which will culminate with the show, “Everything’s Coming up Roses, Saturday, March 12, 2:30pm.  It’s going to be a dynamic show including musical theatre, seasonal songs and the final number will be a mass choir arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.

Please help spread the news to other prospective choristers!

I am also in the process of organizing a recording session for both the Primary and Intermediate groups.  That’s always exciting and a great learning experience. You can listen to some of the music that I’ve recorded with my choristers over the years when you visit my website and it’s under the heading “music”.  Last spring, my recording kids put out the musicals, “Simon Fraser and the Raging River” and “Sound Advice”.  Both musicals will be published soon through THEMES AND VARIATIONS.

Once again, thank you for your support and enthusiasm and I look forward to seeing you all in January!
